Mel Parker

NBMBAA National Board Member, Former President, Brinks North America

Mel is a recognized multi industry inspirational leader known for his ability to turnaround, transform and upgrade businesses while generating optimum value for shareholders, customers and employees.

He was most recently the President of Brink’s billion-dollar North America business unit. The Brink’s Company (NYSE: BCO) which is the world’s premier provider of secure transportation and cash management financial services.

Previously, he was the Vice President and General Manager of Dell’s North American direct Consumer, Small Business and Member Loyalty division.

Mel began his leadership journey after graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Computer Science choosing to become a Field Artillery Officer in the elite 82nd Airborne Division.

He attended and graduated from the U.S. Army Airborne School and U.S. Army Ranger School and successfully led his teams in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

After his military service Mel joined PepsiCo where he delivered top performance and results in various roles to include General Manager, Gatorade Business Manager and Director of the Kroger West team.

He has also been President, Vice President and/or General Manager of business units in top tier Global companies and responsible for some of the largest global consumer brands: Pepsi Cola, Quaker Oats, Tropicana, Gatorade, Sharpie, Dell and Brink’s.

His expertise spans multiple functions: General Management, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Strategy and Customer Care and industries: Food and Beverage, Business Services, Consumer Products, Technology and Financial Services.

He attributes his consistent success in multiple industries with ability to quickly absorb the industry, business situation and company culture secured by a foundation of Inspirational Leadership, Business Acumen and Customer Focus.

He currently serves as an Independent Board Director for Vectrus (NYSE:VEC) and on the Board of the National Black MBA Association. He served as a member of the Executive Advisory Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Texas.

He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council and named to the Savoy list of Top 100 Influential Blacks in Corporate America for 2012 and 2014.
